LATTICEWORK
Latticework is a type face designed to capture the organic quality of fishnet texture. Together, Latticework’s two composite parts create stark contrast between letterforms, allowing the typeface’s user a variance of emphasis and structure in composing typography. A statement piece composite of gritty visual interest, Latticework creates bold headings to lead designs. Grungy, splotchy and alive with handcrafted intention, Latticework presents a unique approach to handcrafted typography.

With Latticework, I took hand stamped ink letters and transferred them to digital format. Using typography programs, I created a working font file. Latticework is a display font that features a bold and textured version of each letter.
Regular Typeface
Bold Typeface
After creating the typeface itself, I prepared a tabloid size type specimen poster to print and distribute. I also created a book page to include Latticework in the TYPO Lab's experimental typography zine.
This project challenged me to learn an entirely new design medium. I developed understanding of typographic anatomy, solidifying my skills in order to create a working typeface.  I individually consider letterforms when designing the typeface. Everything is hand kerned, spacing carefully considered for legibility.

In the future, I would love to design more symbols for the typeface, as well as sets of lowercase letters.
